Why safety in later life matters

Stay independent —
and never be alone in an emergency.

Getting older doesn't mean living cautiously. It means keeping your freedom — while having the certainty that someone is there immediately if help is needed. For many seniors and their families, that's exactly the difference that matters in everyday life.

One fall can change everything

Nearly one in four people aged 65+ falls at least once a year — among those 80 and older it is one in three (Robert Koch Institute, 2022). Falls usually happen where people feel safe — the bathroom, the stairs, the garden. When you're alone and can't reach a phone, precious minutes are lost.

Many seniors live alone

Around one third (34%) of people aged 65+ in Germany live alone (Federal Statistical Office). Staying in your own home, on your own terms, is an important piece of quality of life. The quiet worry remains: what if nobody is there — and nobody immediately notices something is wrong?

Every minute counts

Between a fall and the first help, time is decisive. The sooner trusted people know and can react, the better the outcome — physically and emotionally. Quick reachability isn't a small thing — it's essential.

The quiet worry of family

"Did Mum call today?" — daughters, sons, and partners know that feeling. Always a bit on standby, always one ear on the phone. Nobody should carry that weight alone.

Preserve freedom Walks, garden, shopping — without anyone having to "be there".
A trusted voice in emergencies It's not a stranger who answers — it's your own family.
Peace of mind for relatives Sleep, work, live — without that constant worry in the background.

Safety isn't the opposite of independence. It's the foundation of it.

Also used for seniors, children and lone workers.

The flow

How an emergency call works with NOA

From button press to voice connection — four steps, automatic, in seconds.

  1. Press the button

Small, rugged, always with you — one press is enough.

  2. GPS location by message

To all stored contacts — by SMS, email, or push notification.

  3. Calls up to three trusted contacts

One after another, until someone answers.

  4. Talk directly

Via the device's speaker and microphone — no additional hardware needed.

For the wearer: no app, no smartphone — just the button. In seconds, anywhere in Europe.

In detail

Three calls. Location by message. Clear logic.

Relatives or caregivers decide in advance who is alerted. In an emergency, NOA automatically calls the contacts one after another until someone picks up.

Also possible: calls with an automatic voice announcement — learn more
Call chain

Up to three trusted contacts are called

NOA dials the stored call numbers in order. As soon as someone picks up, a direct voice connection through the device is established — via speaker and microphone.

Son M.+49 151 ...

Neighbor H.+49 178 ...

Message broadcast

Up to ten contacts receive the location plus an alert

In parallel to the call, a message goes out to the stored recipients — with the emergency text and a maps link to the exact GPS location. So everyone is informed, even if someone else picks up.

Additional features: fall detection, geofencing & inactivity alarm
NOA reacts even when the button can't be reached

In everyday life, on the go, or in an emergency — NOA was designed to get help fast in every situation.

Protection even when the button can't be reached

Automatic fall detection for seniors

accessibility_new

Fall is detected

An accelerometer (motion sensor) detects falls automatically — even when pressing the button is no longer possible.

timer

Pre-alarm: 30 seconds to react

NOA starts a 30-second pre-alarm. The alarm can be cancelled with a short button press.

notifications_active

Real alarm after 30 seconds

If there is no reaction, an emergency call is triggered automatically — including calls to trusted contacts and the GPS location.

touch_app

Clear operation — even under stress

Short press ends false alarms.
Long press triggers help immediately.

Fall detection complements the emergency button and helps when reacting on your own is no longer possible.

Example scenario

Mr. Schneider, 74, falls in the bathroom at night

Mr. Schneider slips on the wet bathroom floor at night and falls awkwardly onto his side. The shock means he can't react right away — and he can no longer reach his phone.

1 NOA detects the sudden fall automatically and starts the 30-second pre-alarm.
2 Mr. Schneider doesn't react — so NOA automatically triggers the emergency call.
3 His daughter immediately receives a call and a message with the exact location.
4 A few minutes later, help is on the way — even though Mr. Schneider couldn't press a button himself.
Safety when orientation fades

Intelligent geofencing
for dementia and orientation difficulties

accessibility_new

Safe zone is left

NOA automatically detects when a predefined safety zone is left — e.g. for people with dementia or orientation difficulties.

timer

Immediate notification

NOA immediately sends an alert to stored trusted contacts.

notifications_active

Live location active

At the same time, the live location is transmitted, so the current whereabouts can be followed at any time.

touch_app

Quickly found again

Trusted contacts can locate the person directly via the location display and accompany them back safely.

Geofencing ensures that relatives are informed immediately when a person with dementia leaves the safe area.

Example scenario

Mrs. Müller, 79, leaves her home unnoticed at night

Mrs. Müller lives with early-stage dementia and leaves her home unnoticed during the night. She is disoriented and can no longer find her way outside her familiar surroundings.

1 NOA automatically detects that the defined safety zone has been left.
2 Stored trusted contacts are informed immediately.
3 The current live location is transmitted in real time.
4 The person can be quickly located and safely accompanied back.
Safety when no movement is detected

Automatic inactivity detection

accessibility_new

No movement detected

NOA automatically detects when the device hasn't moved for a defined period — e.g. when a person living alone may have fallen or the device has been set aside.

timer

Automatic monitoring

Inactivity is monitored continuously. If the defined period is exceeded, an alert is triggered immediately — without any additional confirmation or review phase.

notifications_active

Immediate notification

NOA directly sends a notification to trusted contacts — including a note about the ongoing inactivity.

touch_app

Safety in everyday life

Whether living alone or out and about: if NOA registers no movement for an unusually long time, trusted contacts are informed automatically.

Inactivity detection serves as an additional safety net — especially for people living alone, or when the device has been set aside unintentionally.

Example scenario

Mr. Schneider, 74, lives alone at home

Mr. Schneider lives alone and wears NOA every day. One evening the device lies motionless for an extended period, without anyone being able to react or the device being actively used.

1 NOA detects no movement over a defined period.
2 The defined inactivity period is exceeded.
3 Trusted contacts are informed automatically right away.
4 They can react directly and check on the person or arrange help.

Always included: professional escalation around the clock

The security center
takes over when nobody confirms

sos

Alarm is triggered

Whether emergency button, fall, geofencing, or inactivity alarm — NOA starts alerting as usual.

call

Your trusted contacts first

NOA always contacts your stored contacts first — by call, SMS, or email, in the order you set.

timer

No confirmation in time

If nobody confirms the alarm within the set time limit, the emergency still doesn't go unanswered.

support_agent

The emergency call center takes over

An emergency call center staffed around the clock takes over, assesses the situation, and initiates the help that's needed.

Always included — at no extra charge in your plan. An actual dispatch of the emergency call center costs €15 (usage fee). You're never left without help.

Example scenario

Mrs. Berger, 81, falls — her daughter is fast asleep

Mrs. Berger falls late in the evening. NOA triggers the alarm and calls her daughter — but she's fast asleep and doesn't hear the phone. Without a fallback, the alarm would go unanswered.

1 NOA first alerts the stored trusted contacts.
2 Nobody confirms the alarm within the set time limit.
3 The alarm automatically escalates to the 24/7 security center.
4 Trained staff take over, assess the situation, and initiate help.

Common questions

Common questions about the mobile emergency button

What does NOA really cost — are there any hidden fees?

A one-time device fee: NOA Mini €69.99 or NOA Watch €69.99. You choose the plan later in the NOA app — e.g. €24.99/month (cancellable monthly) or €274.89/year (annual plan). SIM, roaming, GPS, messaging and accessories (lanyard, belt clip, wristband) are all included. No activation fee, no per-message charge, no contract lock-in.

Does the wearer need a smartphone or app?

No — using the device itself requires no smartphone and no app. NOA has its own SIM card, mobile connection, GPS, speaker and microphone. It works fully independently, even if the wearer doesn't own a phone. A trusted family member (the "reference person") configures contacts and devices once in the NOA app.

What happens if none of the three contacts answer?

NOA calls trusted contacts one after another and simultaneously sends the GPS location to all message recipients. If nobody answers on the first round, NOA starts the chain again automatically. The key point: trusted people are informed immediately — they know right away and can act. We recommend three contacts with different daily routines.

Does NOA work abroad?

Yes. NOA works in all EU countries plus Switzerland and the UK. SIM card and roaming are included in the monthly service price — at no extra cost.

Is NOA a medical device?

No. NOA is not a medical device and doesn't replace medical or nursing care. NOA is a safety and communication service that quickly reaches trusted contacts in an emergency.

Safety begins with a question —
we answer honestly

Whether for Mum, your child, or your team — we'll tell you openly what NOA can do for your situation and what it can't.
